My ‘Sliced Pinky’ Accident (and 2 Important Mindset Lessons To Help You Be An Internet Marketing Success)

February 8th, 2010
Kyle After His Sliced Pinky Accident

Kyle After His Sliced Pinky Accident

I have an embarassing story to share but hopefully it will yield some good lessons for you…

So last Thursday was a day like any other for me… I woke up today at 5:00 AM so I could start my day with a workout in my Home Gym.  I did an intense workout for about 30 minutes and then came upstairs so I could cook some breakfast, have some Green Tea, and start my day…

I had a healthy little breakfast and after munching spotted the sink full of dirty dishes and decided to tackle the mess and clean those dishes before I jumped into my day of work.

Half way through my ‘Suzie-homemaker’ dish-washing escapade I was washing out this cool Pint Glass I got from this crazy Bar in Atlanta that my friend bought me when the glass suddenly broke into shards and in the process sliced a MASSIVE chunk of flesh out of the outside of my pinky on my right hand…

I looked down at my pinky and the blood gushing out of it and realized I had cut myself pretty darn deeply.

Awesome…

I quickly grabbed some paper towels and applied some pressure to the gaping wound and after a few carefully chosen curse words, got mad at myself and that stupid mistake I just made…

I then quickly realized I needed to go get some stiches because it was a pretty bad cut.

I stopped being mad at myself because that was not helping at all, and then started focusing my mind on what I needed to do to solve this problem and do something that would actually help me.

It was no easy process, but I figured out how to get my winter coat on without bleeding all over it, grabbed my keys, and hopped in my Jeep to drag myself to the Emergency room…

All the while bursting with excitement (sarcasm) with the idea of sitting for two hours in a Hospital waiting room (always a fun time)  :)

I arrived at the Hospital and at this point my finger was throbbing with pain pretty badly…

I was greeted by some really nice hospital staff that took care of getting me registered and getting settled into my own private hospital treatment room.

For the next two hours I spent some quality time in that room waiting while the Doctors and medical staff took care of people who needed more urgent care than I did (one guy was having a heart attack and another some prostate problems - yikes).

Luckily, I had recently bought the “Droid” phone and I had some ebooks uploaded to it that I could read while I waited in the room which turned out to be great because I was able to take my mind of my finger and fill my brain with some new great information.

I was actually studying an ebook from fellow New Hampshire resident Glenn Livingston (who is an amazingly talented Google Adwords ninja).  The long story short, I was able to get some great education in because I was prepared…

==========
LESSON #1:  Always be prepared with good information to pour into your brain at all times.  Having the right mindset and the right tools present can help you make the best of any situation.
==========

So back to my story,

Soon enough the Doctor came in, prepped my finger, injected some magic serum to make my finger go numb (which kinda sucked), and then proceeded to stich my mangled finger back into one piece.

They wrapped a massive Gauze wrap around my newly sewn up pinky finger, I got my instructions from the Doc, signed some more paperwork and I was on my way.

After that 2 hour ordeal I shot over to the Pharmacy to fill a presciption for Antibiotics, and then went home and got on with my day…

I was able to get some great work done despite my injured finger so that was cool…

At the end of the day was time for my scheduled workout downstairs in my basement home gym.  I have some ofty goals and I have a plan and I certainly wasn’t going to let this injured finger get in my way.

I had a lower body lifting session planned for that day that included exercises like Lumberjack squats, front squats, back squats, Romanian Deadlifts, Trab Bar Deadlifts, etc

I had to modify some exercises and make some substitutions but all in all I had a kick butt training session and I did not let my circumstances keep me from working towards my goals.

============
LESSON #2: It could have been ‘REALLY’ easy to simply skip my workout that day due to my injured finger, really easy to give myself the day off due to the unfortunate circumstances I had experienced BUT I instead chose to do whatever I could and work around this circumstance.
============

I tell you what, it felt AWESOME to get my scheduled training session in despite this roadblock that popped up in my way.

It was a strengthening decision that made me feel good>  I felt empowered that I was able to make progress towards my goals no matter what.

Here’s a quote I really like that fits in well here:

“Every decision you make - every decision - is not a decision about what to do.  It’s a decision about who You Are.  When you see this, when you understand it, everything changes.  You begin to see life in a new way.  All events, occurrences, and situations turn into opportunities to do what you came here to do.”

-Neal Donald Walsch

——————–

With all that said,

My finger is on the mend and I have downgraded my bandage to a smaller more compact version.  :)

I am still working hard and making progess on my goals despite it all.

I hope that you overcome all obstacles thrown in your way and keep moving closer to your goals every day!

To your success my friend,

Kyle Battis

One Undercover Method To Launch Your Product

December 17th, 2009

By Kyle Battis
www.UndercoverLaunchSecrets.com

There has been a lot of talk about “product launches” in internet marketing circles for some time. Jeff Walker first introduced the concept to the mainstream with his excellent “Product Launch Formula” product. Frank Kern added some unique twists and tactics with his “Mass Control Course.”

In fact, it’s become somewhat of a “niche” within IM (much like email marketing, viral marketing, article marketing, etc.) with many articles, reports and products devoted to the topic.

For the record, just so we’re all on the same page, here is a working definition of a “product launch”…

A product launch is the sum total of your marketing activities to produce as many initial sales as possible of your newly created product.

A very generalized view of a product launch looks something like this…

-> Build a list of prospective buyers in your target audience.
-> Develop a hot product that is in demand by your list.
-> Tweak your sales process until it is rock-solid.
-> Release pre-launch high-content special reports and videos to wet the appetite of your subscribers…
-> Create pre-launch buzz by “teasing” your subs with details.
-> Find influential partners to promote you on “launch day”.
-> Create more buzz by revealing case studies of results.
-> Announce your product to list on launch day with some kind of limit or deadline to further get them to act now.

Now, to be sure, there are a lot of “parts” within each of these steps, but that’s the basic overview of what a product launch looks like.

Sounds easy, right?

If it’s so easy, then is it that “gurus” are the ones who predominately pull it off? How often do you really hear of an “average Joe” who makes a splash with a product launch?

The truth is: the average person won’t see significant results from a product launch.

There are a variety of reasons for this, but perhaps the most critical is the fact that…

The average person can’t get influential partners to promote their offer for them as a part of the launch.

Pull that out of the “formula” for a product launch and you basically have yourself sending out some mailings to your own list.

The truth is, without the leverage from partners’ existing influence and assets; your product launch isn’t going to make much of a splash in the overwhelming majority of cases.

So, while I could write a special report to fill in the blanks of the aforementioned “overview” in order to give you all the “parts” needed, it probably wouldn’t be of much benefit to you.

Instead, I’m going to do something that

Pull that out of the “formula” for a product launch and you basically have yourself sending out some mailings to your own list.

The truth is, without the leverage from partners’ existing influence and assets; your product launch isn’t going to make much of a splash in the overwhelming majority of cases.

So, while I could write a special report to fill in the blanks of the aforementioned “overview” in order to give you all the “parts” needed, it probably wouldn’t be of much benefit to you.
Instead, I’m going to do something that

I got started in Internet Marketing interviewing other experts following the www.MyFirstTeleseminar.com interview model that Tellman taught to me. With this model I was able to build my e-mail list and build relationships with already established marketers who had big lists already.

One of my partners who I interviewed in this series was a very smart marketer by the name of Tom Venuto. Tom had an amazing product that I believed in (the best fat loss ebook on the market hands down called www.SecretsOfBurningFat.com).

Anyway,

I interviewed Tom a couple different times and had some awesome teleseminars that went really well. From there we started to build the relationship further and I went out of my way to help Tom out – promoting his product to my small but newly formed list, connecting him with other marketers whom I had interviewed, and just learning more about him and what his goals were.

I’ll never forget, one day we were talking on the phone and I mentioned to him that Tellman and I were working on a Membership website called www.InstantADDSuccess.com and were about to launch it. This piqued Tom’s curiosity and he said to me, “I’ve always wanted to make a membership site but did not know how nor have the time to do it.”

Right then and there I knew I was going to approach Tom about creating a business together and launching a Membership site. I continued to sharpen my skills and learning everything I could about membership sites and continued to build my relationship with Tom.

A couple weeks later I wrote Tom a long e-mail pitching him on my idea. I wanted to take on the heavy lifting of creating a Membership Website for him and his list.

I proposed that I would do all the heavy lifting putting the site together, upload the content, create the infrastructure, handle the customer service, work with affiliates, and do everything I could to make the site a success.

I proposed that Tom would provide his marketing expertise (Tom is brilliant marketer that has been successfully selling online since 1999), create the content for the site, and market the site to his BIG e-mail list.

Tom put a lot of thought into it and came back with his proposal, I accepted, and www.BurnTheFat-InnerCircle.com was born. We launched the membership site to Tom’s e–mail list a month later and instantly had a profitable membership site with thousands of paying members. SUCCESS!!

Tom and I are still running the Burn The Fat Inner Circle today and constantly growing membership and site revenue so this method of launching a product flat out works!

To see a video where Jeff Walker interviews me about this launch visit this link:
http://www.overcomeeverything.com/kyle-launch/

Andy Duncan recently used this same approach with Tellman Knudson and they launched http://www.howtomakequickcashonline.com and had a VERY successful launch.

Some more examples of this tactic in action would be www.EasyTrafficSteps.com, www.SpiderLanguage.com, and www.MyFirstTeleseminar.com.

These are sites that myself, Mike Purvis, and Pat Marcello launched WITH Tellman to his lists. We did all the heavy lifting, created all the content, we split the project with Tellman and launched the sites to his list.

This is a killer method of launching a product. Dan Kennedy had a quote that summed it up nicely in his Renegade Millionaire Product, “If you don’t have any resources then you have to be resourceful!” By leveraging the resources of more established marketers, rolling up my sleeves and working my butt off, I’ve had some very successful product launches!

If you liked this “Undercover Product Launch” strategy then be sure to check out this special report: www.UndercoverLaunchSecrets.com

4 Steps To Overcoming Fear Of Public Speaking So You Can Make Money With Teleseminars

September 28th, 2009

Hey there,

I’ve got a video and an a post that will help you overcome your fear of public speaking, overcome any nervousness you have about running a teleseminar, and get completely comfortable with the whole process so you can get onto the business of growing your opt in list and making more money online.

Hit the Play Button Below to watch the video and then be sure to read the article below:

A frequently asked question I get is “how do I get comfortable with doing teleseminars?” The first tip I have is to start listening to a lot of teleseminars by established marketers. Just listening to teleseminars will get you more comfortable with how they work and you’ll be able to listen to people that are already good at doing teleseminars work their magic (you can learn a lot from successful people simply by modeling what they do).

So, with that said, my first piece of advice would be to start registering and listening to lots of teleseminars. Pay attention to how the speaker structures his calls, how he introduces his quest, how he asks his guest the questions, how he presents the sales pitch on the call. You can learn a lot from this simple method so I would highly recommend listening to as many teleseminars as you can

This will be an ongoing practice I would recommend that you stick with – the more teleseminars you listen to the more nuances you’ll pick up.

With that said, rolling up your sleeves and doing teleseminars of your own is still going to be a big part of your teleseminar success training…

Here is a simple 4 phase Formula for getting comfortable with doing teleseminars…

Phase 1: “Put Your Toe In The Water” – Self Recording

The simplest place to start with teleseminars is to set aside 15 minutes and call into your new bridge line to do a self recording. This way there is no pressure, no one else on the line and now downside if you screw anything up. You can call into you line, get comfortable with the muting and unmuting controls, the recording controls, and any other pertinent controls that you may want to be aware of. You can even record a short audio Q+A to use as a content piece for your blog or your newsletter. Whether or not you use the audio recording from this “toe in the water” session or not will still allow you to get comfortable with your bridge line and bring you one step closer to being a telseminar master!

Phase 2: Informally Interview A Friend or Colleague

The next phase in getting comfortable with teleseminars is to have a friend or colleague call into your bridge line at a predetermined time so you can informally interview them.

Don’t worry too much about the structure and making something ‘perfect’, just getting on the phone with someone else and recording the interview will be a good learning experience for you. You can download the audio recording of the call after you are done and critique it so that next time you do the call you can make any modifications that you need to…

Phase 3: Short Q+A Interview With An Expert In Your Niche (No audience)

Movin on up… :)

Ok, so now you can actually create some valuable content in a no-pressure environment (no live audience).

You might outline a simple script to follow (short intro, explanation of what you and your quest will be discussing in this short interview, ask your guest a question, allow your guest to answer, ask one or two more questions, wrap the call up, give a simple call to action such as “to learn more traffic driving strategies go visit Kyle’s website at www.EasyTrafficSteps.com.”

You can hear an example of what I am recommending that you do here: www.FatLossLunchBreak.com/mikeg1.html

This is a short 5 minute interview I did with a guest expert as part of one of my affiliate marketing websites. You can interview a guest expert and use this audio as a content piece, as a bonus for a product, or even as a piece of a bigger product (I’ll be teaching you all about how to use audios very similar to this to create high-value, high-profit products in future issues of this coaching course).

I encourage you to go set up some interviews like this one to get more comfortable with teleseminars while simultaneously creating some high value content at the same time.

Phase 4: Live Q+A Call With An Expert In Your Niche (Live Audience)

Here’s the final phase of getting comfortable with teleseminars – the live call with an audience. Get out there and follow the http://www.MyFirstTeleseminar.com system because that’s exactly what I teach you in the FREE CD and the 9 Week Training Course.

I hope to see you in the program!

To your success,
