Kyle’s “Take Aways” From Yanik Silver’s “Underground Online Seminar” - Bob Parsons, CEO Of www.GoDaddy.com and His 16 Rules For Success In Business And Life…

February 25th, 2009

bobparsonsHowdy,

This past weekend I was down in Washington DC to attend Yanik Silver’s Underground Online Seminar. This is the second Underground seminar I have been to and as always, Yanik put on a great event. Over my next few posts I will share my personal take-aways from the seminar. I hope that my personal ‘take aways’ will help you grow your internet business and achieve even greater success…

The keynote speaker of the event was Bob Parsons - Creator and CEO of www.GoDaddy.com

WOW!!

What a guy and what a story! Bob shared the story of his life, his journey as a Marine to Vietnam and how his near-death experience molded his view of life and helped him realize that FEAR is mearly “False Evidence Appearing Real.” (He didn’t actually say that but I love that quote about FEAR and I think Bob has embodied that FEAR does not stop him or hodl him back in life).

Bob shared how at one point in Vietnam he was sitting on the top of an old French Fort on top of a hill, in a deadly combat situation, seeing his friends die around him, contemplating whether he was going to live through the experience of that war and he had a life-changing epiphany.

In that realization he said he “Felt the joy of being alive” and he decided at that moment that he would not succumb to destitude and lose hope like some of his other brothers in arms. He said to himself everyday “please let me be alive for tomorrow’s mail call.” He gave himself a very simple goal every day that helped him survive that deadly time of his life in Vietnam…

He asked himself “what’s the worst that could happen?” Bob said that by identifying ‘what the worst situation was’ that he could let his mind move past that and actually get to the business of living life.

Here are some of the “Take Aways” that I had from Bob’s Awesome Key Note Presentation:

“Success is 1/2 due to luck, being prepared for the right situation when it comes, and putting yourself in that right
situation. The other 1/2 of success is having perspective.”

“If you love something it will tell you all its secrets”

“If stuff isn’t working you gotta do something different.”

“Once I found an advertisement that worked I took out a loan for $50,000 and rolled the ad out BIG TIME!”

“I had already achieved success with another company but I started GoDaddy.com because I wanted something to do…”

“We track everything…”

“GoDaddy.com started out with NO business plan, we tried lots of stuff, we built a service called “Websites TOnight” which
helped to build your own website and we noticed people needed domain names who bought our website tonight service. That was a turning point for Godaddy.com”

Bob Parson’s 16 Rules For Success In Business And Life In General

Bob shared a great series of “Rules For Success” at the end of his excellent presentation. I have posted the first three rules here and I have included a link of where you can get the rest of them for FREE.

1. Get and stay out of your comfort zone.
I believe that not much happens of any significance when we’re in our comfort zone. I hear people say, “But I’m concerned
about security.” My response to that is simple: “Security is for cadavers.”

2. Never give up.
Almost nothing works the first time it’s attempted. Just because what you’re doing does not seem to be working, doesn’t mean
it won’t work. It just means that it might not work the way you’re doing it. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it, and
you wouldn’t have an opportunity.

3. When you’re ready to quit, you’re closer than you think.
There’s an old Chinese saying that I just love, and I believe it is so true. It goes like this: “The temptation to quit will
be greatest just before you are about to succeed.”

To read the rest of Bob’s Rules you can go to his Blog to read them all CLICK HERE

(I actually just bought the Poster of these 16 Rules that Bob sells because I like them so much!!) :)

Those are some of my “Take Aways” from Bob’s talk. He’s a really cool dude and he gave an inspiring speech.

Here is a video I just found that Yanik shot with Bob immediately after Bob gave his keynote address. I hope that you like it and I hope that you got some good take aways from this post…

’The Simple Six-Step System For Getting Rich Selling Information Products Online’

September 15th, 2008

“Spend an hour a day on education and spend then spend an hour on implementation.”

-Tellman Knudson

A very important idea Tellman taught me years ago when I an over-worked, underpaid, struggling Personal Trainer trying to break into online marketing was to spend some time learning everyday and then spend some time implementing what you learned ‘that very day.’

Over the years I have had the fortune of meeting and interacting with lots of very successful marketers – Tellman Knudson, Joshua Shafron, Mark Joyner, John Carlton, Harris Fellman, Dan Kennedy, Yanik Silver, Eben Pagan, Rich Shefren, Joel Comm, Brian Edmonson, Matt Gill, Tom Venuto, Pat Marcello, Craig Ballantyne, Ryan Lee, and many, many more).

One characteristic that ALL of then share is that they are always LEARNING and then TAKING ACTION.

The successful people in life are always feeding their brain with new information and are always taking action to implement what they have learned.

I have sat in the same seminars as some people who have learned the same information and two years later are still stuck at step one.  They learned the same information as everyone else in the room but they missed the vital step of taking action.

Knowledge without an actionable plan is useless…

Action without the proper knowledge is better than nothing at all but to get the best results following a proven plan, learning from mentors who have ‘been there, done that’ and following their lead is the way to quicker results.  It’s ultimately the shortcut to success.

Anyway, I have done my best to live by Tellman’s advice of a balanced approach to learning and action and so I spend some time everyday pouring top-quality knowledge into my brain.

Every morning at 5:45 AM I wake up, pound a glass of water, grab a book, newsletter, or my IPOD loaded with marketing audios and then drive to the local gym.  I usually hop on a stationary Bike and work on improving my fitness WHILE filling my brain with killer marketing and business-building information.

Most recently I just finished reading Dan Kennedy’s “Get Rich Guide To Information Marketing. ”  This is a killer little book that you can pick up on Amazon.com for about $10 bucks and is easily worth hundreds and hundreds of dollars.    (I recommend picking up a copy today and adding it to your reading list).

Below is a Six-Step Formula Dan Kennedy presents in this book on how to build a successful Information Marketing business from Scratch.  I recommend paying close attention to this formula and doing your best to stick to it.

Step 1.  Identify A Hot Market

·        Try to identify the Market within the bigger market

·        Are people already successfully selling in this market?

·        Clickbank.com and Google.com for research

Step 2.  Determine What The Market Will Buy

·        What are they already buying in that market?

·        Frank Kern approach – look at what’s selling already and create something completely different to differentiate yourself

Step 3.  Develop Info Products To Match What They Want

·        Find out what they want – Google Adwords to ASK page

·        Model what is already working and put your unique twist on it.  Market it better than your competition.

·        Send a Survey Monkey Survey asking them what they want.  What specific benefits are they looking for from using your product?

Step 4.  Start With Simple Products

·        Special Reports

·        Camtasia Screen Capture Videos/JING Screen Capture Videos

·        Instant Product Creation with Audio – My First List www.MyFirstList.com and www.MyFirstE-mails.com are great examples

Step 5.  Select Direct Marketing Methods Appropriate For The Market

Step 6.  Turn A One-Time Buyer Into A Life-Long Customer of Continuing Value

·        Great examples are:  Memberhsip Sites, Audio of the month, Physical Newsletter, DVD of the month, etc

·        Dan Kennedy ‘Ascension Model’ – Create different membership tiers with ever-increasing benefits and value delivered to customer and charge more as you deliver more value at each level of membership

Also, here is an absolulutely-KILLER formula from success that Dan, Bill, and Rob present in the book.  Take a look at this formula anytime your are wondering how to improve your existing info marketing business.  What’s missing?  What can be improved?

Dan Kennedy’s Info-Marketing
Business Success Formula

QP + QL + MF + RR + CI + WN = BIG MONEY!!  $$

QP = Quality Product

QL =  Quality Lead

MF = Marketing Funnel

RR = Risk Reversal

CI = Continuity Income

WN = What’s Next?

That’s it from me this month.  Hopefully this special report got the gears turning upstairs and will help you to take advantage of the abundance of opportunity that is out there.  Spend some time everyday on education and then on implementation and soon enough you will see exponential returns on your investments in yourself and in your business.

To your success,
